Toffler Associates’ Leaders Selected for Fellowships

Posted January 22, 2015

RESTON, Virginia – Toffler Associates is pleased to announce the selection of two of its leaders for fellowships for the 2014-2015 season. Senior Associate Eric C. Chase was selected as a 2014-2015 National Security Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), and Director Tyler Sweatt was named an Industry Fellow at The Asymmetric Studies Institute (ASI) at The Johns Hopkins University (JHU). “We couldn’t be more proud to have two members of the Toffler team recognized for their ability to make valuable contributions in their field,” notes Toffler Associates Operations Director Darin Powers. “It’s a tremendous honor – both for Eric and Tyler individually, and for Toffler Associates as a whole.”

The FDD sponsors the National Security Fellows Program (NSFP) for up-and-coming members of the policy community, with the goal of exploring national security issues through a series of expert-moderated discussions. The FDD is a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)3 policy institute focusing on foreign policy and national security. “Our adversaries are challenging our conventionally oriented institutions with new, innovative, complex threats. As our enemies adapt at an ever-accelerating rate, we too need to evolve our ability to address future threats in an uncertain environment,” observes Chase.  “The members of the NSFP are some of today’s top thinkers in the national security community, and I’m humbled to serve alongside them.”

The Asymmetric Studies Institute, which is partnered with the Department of Military Science at The Johns Hopkins University, is a 501(c)3  non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of asymmetric research and course instruction to educate future U.S. government leaders to make difficult decisions in light of adversity, ambiguity, and a multitude of information. “The ability to recognize, understand, and leverage trends, correlations, intersections, and other features of complex problems is critical to the development and implementation of cross-industry and often non-standard approaches to today and tomorrow’s toughest challenges,” says Sweatt. “Developing a cadre of young leaders capable of fusing existing and developing innovative methods to addressing these problems is critical for our shared future.”
