Martin Evelyn is an associate at Toffler, which means he’s often in the trenches of a project, doing all he can to provide value to our clients. He began my career as a management consultant at Gartner, focused on HR strategy. From there he joined a start-up non-profit focused on helping the 60% of the US workers that do not have a bachelor’s degree find a higher wage job. There he served a multitude of roles, including research, business development, product management, marketing, and even snack czar!

What excites you about 2030?

Looking at current trends, there is no way to deny that 2030 is likely to be filled with serious challenges. However, I remain hopeful. New technological breakthroughs that we’re seeing now in every sector, from healthcare to aerospace, promise to improve our lives and open us to new horizons. Our society is making strides in recognizing and addressing structural barriers that hurt so many of us. And, despite the toxicity, our connected world is helping us see common humanity among all of us. I like to imagine that 2030 will be a year of new beginnings for humanity, one where we all do our part to make this world better than we found it.

What do you enjoy most about Toffler Associates client work?

The most fulfilling part of my job is helping the client see past their day-to-day operations and think about how long-term shifts can affect their business. It’s a chance for them to look out onto the horizon and grapple with the future large problem or opportunity they’d be otherwise blind too.

What is your favorite part about TA culture?

Toffler is a place of constant curiosity, where you’ll find yourself discussing random tidbits about everything from technology and philosophy to sports and pop culture!

How do you spend your free time?

I’m a huge nerd, so a lot of my free time is spent painting historical figurines and vehicles, reading non-fiction or sci-fi, or playing a strategy game. When I’m not nerding out, I’m cooking or traveling!
