John Avalos

Arcfield, Chief Growth Officer

John Avalos is a data-driven, strategically-focused business executive who leads through ingenuity and champions innovation. For more than 25 years, John has been a collaborative corporate change agent, spearheading the growth of medium and large-size government contractors supporting the defense, intelligence, and civilian agency markets.

As the Chief Growth Officer of Arcfield, John drives cross-organizational business growth for this end-to-end systems engineering and integration firm, supporting U.S. and allied governments. Prior to joining Arcfield, he led day-to-day operations at SOSi, led business development at Booz Allen Hamilton, and served as a Vice President within BAE Systems’ Intelligence and Security sector.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army for over eight years, conducting intelligence operations and supporting national-level intelligence agencies.

He was featured on WashingtonExec’s “Top 25 Execs to Watch” list in 2018 and 2020. John was also recognized as a finalist for WashingtonExec’s Chief Officer Awards in the “Private Company COO of the Year” award category. In addition, John  serves on the International Spy Museum’s Board of Directors.

Michele Bolos

NT Concepts, Inc., Founder

Michele Bolos is a visionary who drives success through sound strategy development. She intuitively brings together a strong and diverse leadership team that follows her mantra of HEAT (Honesty, Empathy, Accountability and Trust). She inspires her leaders by communicating sound direction, encouraging different opinions, and providing a voice in decision making.

Ms. Bolos is the founder of Next Tier Concepts (NT Concepts), a privately held national security solutions provider for the intelligence and defense communities since 1998. In her previous role as CEO, she oversaw strategic direction, organic growth plans, and built a culture of respect within the company. From the beginning, her goal was to remain ahead of all new and rapidly changing technology trends while always providing exceptional customer service.

Ms. Bolos earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before founding NT Concepts, she served as a system engineer and software developer for Alfa-Laval Thermal and an independent consultant for Mobil Oil, Talus Corporation, and API/WANG Global where she led complex programs for commercial and federal customers.

As NT Concepts’ CEO, Ms. Bolos was named the Executive of the Year for companies $75 million to $300 million as part of the 2016 Greater Washington GovCon Awards. In her 30-year career, she proudly led NT Concepts through countless industry shifts while maintaining steady growth and success. Over this time, she has built long-lasting relationships with clients and colleagues, creating a strong foundation to tackle the ever changing landscape of national security.

As a proud tech entrepreneur and a woman in STEM, Ms. Bolos serves on the professional Board of Directors of the Professional Services Council (PSC) and NT Concepts, Inc. as well as the advisory board for Toffler Associates. She also serves on the non-profit boards of Gabriel Homes, Inc., Leadership Mission International, and The Corp Network. Her passion for encouraging girls to get involved in STEM at an early age is why she is an advocate and supporter of the Children’s Science Center of Northern Virginia.

Ms. Bolos, her husband, and two daughters currently live in Oak Hill, Virginia. She is a native of Virginia and has made the Washington, DC, area her home since 1994.

Maury W. Bradsher

District Equity, Chairman and CEO

Maury W. Bradsher is the Chairman and CEO of the private investment and asset management firm District Equity (“DE”), where he advises founders and executives on M&A, capital raising, and growth equity deals for technology companies globally. He is a corporate financier with more than 20 years of experience involving transactions in the US, London, and the Netherlands and has participated in all aspects of M&A, due diligence, business valuation, structure and negotiation.

Prior to forming District Equity he was Managing Director at Ridgewood Technology Partners, where being involved in all phases of the firm’s development including: overall management of the company; formulating and executing long-term strategies; all interactions with clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders. He lead the rebuilding and recapitalization of the company into an award-winning government consultancy (David Packard Award – Defense Acquisition University -2009).

Maury founded Azimuth Business Solutions (“ABS”) a systems engineering and software development firm. With operations in Ft. Collins, CO; Tampa, FL; and Washington DC, Azimuth currently provides a wide range of enterprise IT services to the US Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) and the Dept. of State(DoS). Additionally, Maury is majority owner of ASSETT Inc., a Manassas, VA based engineering and intelligence analysis company, where he specializes in corporate strategy, board operations, oversight and contract negotiations with government and commercial organizations in the cyber and intelligence sector.

Why Did You Join the Toffler Associates Advisory Board?

As a long-time fan of Toffler Associates, the opportunity to support the organization has always been high on my priority list. Toffler has a curiosity and an ability to look through multiple lenses to assess how the world and organizations work. I am immensely interested in their progress and being a part of what is sure to be a continued bright future.

Loretta A. Penn

PECC, LLC, President

Loretta Penn is currently the founder and President of PECC, LLC, an executive coaching and consulting company. Previously she was the former President of Spherion Staffing Services (a division of SFN), a two billion dollar($2.0B) staffing and recruiting company which was acquired by the Randstad Group in 2011. Penn led the company’s largest division, in excess of one billion dollars($1.1B), and was responsible for revenue growth and profitability, service delivery, sales, operations and strategic direction across 500+ company-owned, licensed and franchised offices in North America. Prior to serving as President of Spherion Staffing, Penn served as Spherion’s Chief Service Excellence Officer, and President of Spherion Legal Staffing along with other senior level positions. Penn brings over 25 years of experience in the staffing industry and 10 years in sales, marketing and executive management positions with the IBM Corporation.

Penn holds a Bachelor of Science degree from North Texas University and a Certificate of Studies from Harvard University. Penn formerly served as Executive Chair of the Board for YUPRO (a division of YearUp), and on the board of TECO Energy (member of the Compensation and Nomination and Governance committees) which was sold in 2016. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for The North Highland Company (Lead Director), ZRG Partners, The Global Good Fund and Virginia Ready (Chairman).

Why Did You Join the Toffler Associates Advisory Board?

There are three reasons that I chose to join the Toffler Advisory Board: 1) I believe in the vision and mission of the organization. 2) Playing an advisory role in an organization that is focused on the future and the “what if” is exciting. When you add the focus on the talent continuum and the possibilities ahead during the next 20-25 years, it makes being a participant in the evolution of this company exhilarating. 3) The executive leadership team is committed to making a difference – not just in business but in the community they serve and the world.

Jenn Swindell

Trusted Solutions Group, Senior Vice President and General Manager

Jennifer served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Perspecta’s (NYSE: PRSP) Trusted Solutions Group, a $400M P&L, from 2020 through the company’s acquisition by Peraton in 2021 and her subsequent retirement. As a member of the Executive Leadership team and direct report to the CEO of the $4.5B company, Jennifer guided one of five corporate transformational priorities. Her recommendations to the Board and CEO resulted in a restructuring that created her role leading Perspecta’s first cross-functional business unit focused on providing security solutions to the US government.

Prior to her role at Perspecta, Jennifer worked at Booz Allen Hamilton for 19 years, rising from Associate to Senior Vice President. She led and grew a succession of business units, from the Defense team’s strategy and growth in the Asia Pacific region to a $200M Navy & Marine Corps Market P&L and a turnaround of key Civil market business lines including DHS and the FBI. A notable DE&I and Risk Management leader, she served on Booz Allen’s Enterprise Risk Management Steering Committee; created National Award-winning Unconscious Bias training; led the Firm’s Disability Agenda, resulting in #1 Ranking on Careers & the Disabled Magazine’s inaugural list of Top 50 Employers and a perfect score on the Disability Equality Index; and was one of three panelists asked to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the American’s with Disability Act (ADA) by serving on a panel with Department of Labor Secretary Thomas Perez.

Before Booz Allen Hamilton, Jennifer served in multiple corporate roles where she integrated and transformed organizations to propel performance, including software development teams, ski resort operations, and international experience, establishing an oil refinery in Thailand. Jennifer began her career as Special Operations Officer in the US Navy. As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer, Parachutist, and Diver, she led high-performing teams in hazardous environments.

Jennifer earned her MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and her BA in Economics from Wesleyan University, where she also was two-year co-captain of the soccer team, a three-sport Varsity athlete, and National Merit Scholar.
